Our Training Explained.
We're proud of our training, from our techniques through our course materials and down to the quality of skills that each and
every one of our delegates takes away with them. All of our courses are run in accordance with AITT guidelines. We're regularly audited, giving our customers peace of mind when
it comes to the quality of our courses and the soundness of our advice. We firmly believe in striking the right balance between the theoretical,
practical and assessment components of each course. We don't skimp on classroom work on the Theory of Stability but neither will our Instructors
bore delegates with it for hours on end. Our practical sessions are run in a workshop style, with discussion and questions strongly encouraged.
Course Format
The format of our most popular course, the Conversion to Pivot-Steer, is typically run over two days for up to three delegates. Whether the course is run on your premises or at our Training Centre, the format will be similar to:- Day 1

- Practical sessions: Introduction to the Bendi, basic driving familiarisation.
- Practical sessions: Simple pallet handling.
- Day 2

Training Materials
We don't rely on countless numbers of slides (although we do have them available!), either computer-based or transparencies to get our message across. In fact, most of our instructors use themselves and a whiteboard, tailoring the method and message according to the abilities of the group of delegates attending the course. We feel that it's this approach that really sets us apart from other training companies and gives us such an excellent success rate.Complementary with every Bendi/Pivot-Steer course comes "Forklift Safety", our in-house produced booklet that covers all aspects of operating a forklift truck, with specific examples that cover the Bendi. Forklift Safety offers the ideal pocket-book type reference to operators, allowing them a ready reference in the time immediately after completion of a course and is extremely well-regarded within the industry.
Our Pivot-Steer Syllabus
Although we have extensive expertise in conventional forklift trucks and handling equipment, our primary remit is to provide industry-leading training for the Bendi range of Articulated Pivot-Steer forklift trucks. Working closely with several industry bodies, including the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers, we have produced a Pivot-Steer specific syllabus which covers all aspects of operating a Bendi/Pivot-Steer. At a minimum, an approved Pivot-Steer course syllabus should include:- Counterbalance Theory.
- Pivot-Steer Counterbalance Theory.
- Several Pivot-Steer specific driving exercises.
- Pivot-Steer specific stacking and de-stacking techniques, including trouble-shooting.
- Pivot-Steer operator maintenance tasks, including re-filling best practices.
- A Pivot-Steer specific practical and theory assessment.
When shopping for Pivot-Steer training, check with the training company that their training meets or exceeds the published and recommended standards. Of course, here at Bendi Driver Training, you can be sure that we're always at the forefront of Pivot-Steer and conventional forklift truck training techniques and standards.
Training at Your Site
Training your operators on-site can be extremely useful, as workplace-specific issues can often be addressed by the trainer and delegates will often feel more at home. That said, on-site training can also be distracting, so a dedicated, cordoned-off area to train within is required. The majority of our courses are run on-site, and our success rate is mostly down to our Instructor's ability to work with our customers. To ensure a smooth-running course, our Instructor will need:- A suitable and safe machine.
- An assortment of pallets.
- Access to the warehouse or operating area.
- Realistic loads, to simulate working conditions.
- Access to truck charging/refuelling facilities.
- A dedicated area that can be cordoned off-limits is useful and preferred.
- Access to a training room, classroom or office with enough room for the Instructor and delegates.
In addition, delegates will require suitable safety equipment and any previous licence documentation, if required (usually just conversion courses).
Training at our Training Centre
